What We Support

The United Board supports projects and programs that:

  • Improve faculty
  • Enhance leadership
  • Encourage collaboration and the exchange of ideas
  • Provide opportunities for service learning
  • Strengthen libraries and information technology

The United Board's program grants are administered from our Hong Kong office.

The United Board Fellows Program and the Regional Faculty Scholars Program are administered from our New York office.

Examples of United Board Programs:

  • The United Board Fellows Program: Provides mid-career faculty with leadership training and mentoring through two semesters of residence, one at a campus in Asia and the other in the West.
  • The Regional Faculty Scholars Program: Sponsors degree and non-degree training in scholars' own countries, elsewhere in Asia, or in the West.
  • The Institute of Advanced Study in Asian Cultures and Theologies: Promotes scholarship and understanding among Asian academics involved in cultural and theological issues in an annual six-week seminar.
  • The Asian Christian Faculty Fellowship: Provides opportunities for Christian faculty from both Christian and secular institutions to be part of a network that is distinguished by shared faith, experience, and goals.

Examples of United Board-funded Projects:

  • Seminars and conferences devoted to vital topics such as service-learning, women's studies and religious studies.
  • Institutional networking.
  • Library development and information technology, especially between our partner school.
  • Institutional chaplaincy and campus ministry programs.

The United Board does not support requests:

  • From individuals
  • From non-Asian institutions not partnering with Asian institutions
  • Not related to higher education
  • For student scholarships (except for designated grants)
  • For research or research publications
  • For infrastructure or infrastructure improvements (except for designated grants)
  • For salaries or salary supplements (except for designated grants)
