United Board Fellows Program
The United Board Fellows Program offers an opportunity for mid-level faculty and administrators selected for leadership positions by their home institutions to work with mentors in the United States and Asia over a two-year period. Fellows spend one semester in residence at a host university in Asia, and one semester at a host institution in the United States.
In each host institution, with the assistance of a mentor, Fellows have opportunities to:
| 1.
|
learn about styles of
leadership, organizational structure, and educational
management; |
| 2.
|
learn alternative pedagogical
styles to enrich their own teaching; and |
| 3. |
learn the latest in their
field by auditing classes, meeting with their mentors
and colleagues, and teaching occasional classes. |
The October 2007 Impact Evaluation Report (click to download) describes the activities of United Board Fellows during the program, and changes that Fellows have made or hope to make at their home institutions as a result of their participation in the program.
Fellows also participate in two leadership seminars during the summers, mid-way through and at the end of the program. These seminars, held at universities in Asia, provide an opportunity
for Fellows to meet each other and develop sustaining networks. They also provide
a forum for discussion of issues related to leadership.
Fellows are selected for their academic and teaching excellence
as well as their leadership potential. They should be proficient
in oral and written English.
All scholars must be nominated by their home institutions. Qualified nominees are interviewed by United Board representatives and selected on a competitive basis.
