Give to UB for Approved Projects at Your School
In much of Asia, funding for higher education is declining precipitously. Many schools are finding it increasingly difficult to meet their budgets. Through the United Board’s alumni program, alumni have the opportunity to “give back” some of what they received as students, while also receiving the benefits of U.S. tax incentives for charitable contributions and helping to ensure the current and future financial stability of their alma mater. You may also make a gift to support the general work of the United Board.
Approved Projects at Designated Schools
In general, "approved projects" include any of the following; donors who wish to contribute for a purpose not listed below should contact the United Board before making their contribution:
| 1. |
student scholarships |
| 2. |
library support (acquisitions, on-line resources, etc.) |
| 3. |
faculty development support: faculty scholarships and training |
| 4. |
support for faculty salaries and benefits (merit prizes, professorial chairs, etc.) |
| 5. |
support for a particular academic department named by the donor |
| 6. |
programs to strengthen Christian presence on campus (campus ministry, chaplaincy programs, etc.) |
| 7. |
programs that involve building networks and linkages with other institutions |
| 8. |
capital projects: building campaigns |
| 9. |
endowments held by schools and approved by the United Board |
| 10. |
United Board endowments, which are permanent funds whose purposes and terms must be individually approved by the trustees of the United Board, and which provide reliable yearly support to the named school. If you are interested in making an endowment gift, please contact the United Board by telephone, 212-870-2600 or by email. |
To protect the tax deductibility of alumni gifts and in compliance with U.S. tax regulations, the United Board can receive contributions for overseas schools only for approved projects at those schools, not for their general expenses.
The United Board remits contributions to the specified schools quarterly. The United Board monitors the appropriate use of all funds by requiring reports from the schools about how these designated grants, are used.
The United Board informs the schools of the names and addresses of all donors, except for those who have requested anonymity, and the names of all contributors (except those requesting anonymity) are listed in the United Board's annual report.
