Sri Mulyani is pursuing a PhD in English at Ateneo de Manila University, with the support of the United Board Regional Scholars Program. She anticipates receiving her degree by the end of 2011.
“I’ve learned a lot about cross-cultural understanding in the classroom and in daily social activities during my study in the Philippines. This cross-cultural understanding is not only a slogan but very precious knowledge and experience for me. It will have a significant influence on my teaching specifically and on my life in general.
“Upon returning to Sanata Dharma University, I plan to initiate a program focusing on Asian studies and comparative studies, to be integrated in our English studies program.
“This United Board program is a valuable opportunity for teachers like me to develop our expertise, participate in national and international seminars and conferences, and share our knowledge with Asian scholars and teachers and other international fellows. This will certainly build better educational and social relations in the Asian region and internationally.” |
